Jimena Navarrete: Miss Universe Winner 2010

Twenty-two year old former model Jimena Navarrete won the title of Miss Universe at last night's pageant in Las Vegas. The beauty pageant, co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC, has been announced last night and the other runners-up were Miss Jamaica, Miss Australia, Miss Ukraine and Miss Philippines. And the Filipinos were busy ruing that but for that dumb answer of her in the last round, the pageant would have gone to the beauty from their country.


Miss USA, Rima Fakih, was eliminated early in the show. First runner-up in the 2010 Miss Universe contest was Miss Jamaica, 24-year-old Yendi Phillipps. The remaining winners in the top five were: 2nd Runner-Up Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell; 3rd Runner-Up Miss Ukraine Anna Poslavska; and 4th Runner-Up Miss Philippines Venus Raj.

Fans of the Miss Universe contest watched in approximately 190 countries with many keeping up with the show’s results on Twitter.

Miss USA 2010, Jimena Navarrete, is Mexico’s second Miss Universe. One of the questions she was asked was by Olympic gold-medal figure skater Evan Lysacek. He asked how she felt about unsupervised Internet use to which she replied, “I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time,” she said through an interpreter. “We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family.”

The Miss Universe 2010 pageant was held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas Strip. The event, co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC, had 84 contestants. Contestants were judged by Criss Angel, Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek, Chynna Phillips and actress Jane Seymour.

The Lord Of The Rings' Star Is Completely Broke

"The Lord of the Rings" film trilogy did little to boost actor Billy Boyd's bank balance as he is completely broke.The Scottish star played Hobbit Peregrin 'Pippin' Took in the hit movies, which generated a massive $2.7 billion in profits, but Boyd admits he is still a struggling actor, reports imdb.com.

"I don't have any money. We were unknown actors. We did it for peanuts (very little money), and for food," he said.

And the 41 year old has begun to accept that shooting the trilogy in New Zealand could be the peak of his career, adding: "Once you get in your head that you're not going to do anything bigger, you just do things that you enjoy."

Justin Bieber's New 3-D Movie

The young singer, who is planning a biopic, has invited fans to join him in the movie. Making the announcement are Jon Chu, who has been tapped to serve as director, and the Canadian boy himself.
Those who want to be a part of the untitled Justin Bieber biopic are asked to submit a home video of themselves singing along to Bieber’s “That Should Be Me” or they should “Show us how ‘U Smile’ ” by sending in a photo or video. The video or photo should be submitted to bieberfever.com/movie.

Bieber’s fans have apparently shown great enthusiasm as few hours after the announcement was made the movie’s site was overloaded. “sorry u guys crashed the server!! haha. It’s back up now!! Get in MY MOVIE!!! U got less than 24 hours!!” the “Baby” hitmaker later updated his Twitter account.

Recently, Jon Chu who also directed “Step Up 3-D”, has described how the upcoming Justin Bieber movie will be. “[It's] a movie for his fans, a movie for people who don’t know him, and we’re gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from. There’s not going to be acted-out scenes and I can’t talk about the rest.

It’s not your typical concert film and it’s not going to be a biopic … but it is about his life. I think it’s more of a documentary. We’re going to figure it out as we go,” he explained. The film will be presented in 3-D and is slated to come out in the U.S. on Valentine’s Day weekend, February 11, 2011 to be exact.

Dj Akhil Talreja Performance Rock Dubai

The outstanding performance of Bappi Lahiri and Dj Akhil Talreja made the crowd went crazy in Dubai. DJ Akhil Talreja and Bappi Lahiri set Dubai on fire with some breathtaking performances at the recently concluded at Mirchi Nite club, Last Saturday at Ramee Royal. DJ Akhil Talreja played some remixed tracks which had the audiences grooving and foot tapping.

Bappi even got up for a sort of encore at the end of the night causing the audience to cheer as they tapped their feet to his voice.

In addition to his recent upsurge in Dubai, Bappi Lahiri is also scheduled to make an appearance on Hamari Baat Hai Pak, produced by Sony TV.

TIFF: Bruce Lee International Film Festival In Tokyo

Tokyo International Film Festival ( TIFF) will screen an array of selected movies starring legendary Kung Fu movie icon Bruce Lee, as part of the Winds of Asia Middle- East section this year, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of his birth.

The Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) will screen an array of Lee's selected movies, including his most successful film "Enter the Dragon" and his last film "Game of Death", in a special tribute titled "The 70th Anniversary: Bruce Lee to the Future", Xinhua reported.

The festival's 23rd edition will be held from Oct 23 to 31.

Actress Lindsay Lohan Released From UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Hospital

The 24-year-old actress was released from UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Hospital after serving just over three weeks of her court-ordered 90 days of in-patient treatment.

The "Mean Girls" actress was jailed last month for breaching her probation stemming from a 2007 DUI arrest.

Upon her release, after just 13 days, she was ordered to spend 90 days in rehab at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. But Lohan was discharged from the rehab Tuesday and will now receive outpatient care, reports contactmusic.com.

Doctors at the centre reportedly told Judge Elden Fox, who is overseeing her case, that the she should be released from the hospital before the 90-day stint was completed.
